I just joined this site, so dont' know much of what it has to offer. If you're using photoshop, though, theres' a TON of great step by step tutorials on how to do specific effects all over the internet. You can also get free or purchase photo filters and "actions" , which are atn files, that do anything from turn flat image into frayed fabric, or glass, metal, etc. Dont' know how much of a newbie you are, but cool thing about photoshop actions are that you literally just press play, and program converts image for you. A great site for free actions and tutorials is actionfx. There's a membership program also, which is paid, but I'm not a member so I can only tell you I've heard its cool. The free content, however, is fantastic. Everything from actions to photofilters, and WONDERFULLY easy to follow tutorials. Best of luck! I've got a TRUCKLOAD of photoshop/gimp (freeware photoshop like program) links to resources and goodies, so if you ever need anything specific, feel free to ask and I'll see what I've got bookmarked. Also, another great way to find specifically what you're looking for is to use the ChaCha search engine. You can choose to do a "guided" search, where an actual person who'se a master of Photoshop (or whatever your subject of inquiry is) will give you your search results and answer questions. Its free, and rawks because you don't have to search thru 10000 search results to find what you want.

Best to you! I'm a relative newbie...was getting pretty great on photoshop, but now I'm forced to use Gimp freeware, so I'm learning all over again and know just how exciting and sometimes frustrating it can be! I will tell you that regardless of program you're using, some of the coolest things you'll discover how to do will be simply by pulling up a photo and playing around with different filters and effects.

Best to you! Oh, I've got a ton of other sites with cool free resources and tuts if you want them. Just lemme know what you need.

Flaming Pear is one of the best 3rd party PS filter packs you can ever get, and at a very affordable price. Do a google search and see some samples of the different filters, you'll want to get them all!
